- Creation: 1947 - 2017
Biographical / Historical
Reed College concerts termed "Sound Experiment" from the 1940's into the 1960's. "The concerts, a mix of experimental and classical music were begun in Sept. 1947: "Strictly experimental was the tag hung on the first 'sound experiment' by its instigator Bob Crowley last Fall [Sept. 1947]. However, the experiment proved such a hit that Crowley's brain-child has been adopted by the community. Briefly, the sound experiments present a variety of music from ballads to Bartok, as well as modern dance and hot jazz." (from the Quest, 9/20/48).
