Notes from FileMaker notes field: The building that became the Art Shack was originally constructed [in 1931], to be the home of the Reed Student Cooperative [book] Store. In 1939, the bookstore moved into the newly-built Student Union, and the building was converted to Art Studio use (and a few mathematics courses were taught in it as well).
