Notes from FileMaker 'Cross-Reference Titles' field: Scans donated to Reed Archives, March 2016 Images also copied to Reed Archives Hard Drive Permission to Use granted provided photographer's name is noted Pictures at Reed College 1953 to 1957, taken with a “Kodak 35” camera (see the screen capture on this disk) on Kodachrome daylight film, and scanned in March 2016 using a Minolta DiMage Scan Dual III scanner with VueScan version 8.5.16 software on my Macintosh mini (early 2009) computer running OS 10.11.3 operating system.

Pictures were scanned at 705 dpi, and not edited or corrected in any way (other than cropping). Color was set for “Kodachrome” in the VueScan software.

To see how images can be improved using photoediting software — I used Photoshop Elements version 11 — compare image 24 to the included NewWomensDorm.jpg and image 36 to TrashFilledRoom.jpg that are included on this disk.

The last four images are of my thesis apparatus — I tried to use a Kerr electro-optic cell as a “shutter” to measure the speed of light, but was unsuccessful at that, due to either or both of my ignorance and a cell which had been damaged in shipment (there did seem to be a crack in the glass cell).
