Biographical / Historical
Upward Bound, a U.S. State Department program, aims to prepare high school students for college through teaching, tutoring, and mentorship. In 1965, Reed College offered a program for students from Portland, Seattle, and Oakland that followed the Upward Bound Model. In following years, the college hosted Upward Bound programs for 11th and 12th grade students.
