Hugh Goldhammer photo collection
Scope and Contents
This collection contains photographs taken by Hugh Goldhammer ‘68 between the years of 1966-1968. The majority of the photos are portraits and candids of Goldhammer’s friends and fellow students as well as buildings across Reed College campus. Goldhammer photographed campus spaces such as the library, the Student Union, and the GCC and activities such as Renn Fayre, chess, and basketball. The collection also contains photographs of the city of Portland. While most of his subjects cannot be identified, chemistry major Ron Sato ‘68 frequently appears in the portraits and candid photographs. The collection is divided by size and the bulk of the photographs are small 3.5”x5” photos with a variety of 3.5”x3.5”, 5”x7”, and 8”x10” photos. Other materials include one roll of medium format film and the corresponding images are in the print photos.

Biographical / Historical
Hugh Goldhammer ‘68 was a math major at Reed College in the late 1960s. His father, Earl Goldhammer ‘35, and three of his uncles also attended Reed and his mother, Elsie Willer Goldhammer, was executive assistant to Acting President Frank Loxley Griffin [1954–56]. During his time at Reed, Goldhammer took many photos of his friends, fellow students, and buildings around campus. In his senior year, Goldhammer helped on the Griffin yearbook.

Abstract
Hugh Goldhammer ‘68 was a math major at Reed College in the late 1960s. Goldhammer was a prolific amateur photographer and took many photos during his time at Reed. The collection is comprised of photographs taken by Goldhammer between the years of 1966-1968.
