Note from FileMaker: [file includes a memorial poem written by W.T. Foster's son, Trufant Foster, and many letters from Foster's friends from around the United States, including Reed alumni; letters to Mrs. W. (Bessie) Foster --from Edith McDonald & Reed president E.B. Macnaughton describe the memorial service both in Reed's chapel, and a private ceremony just prior to the chapel service, in which W.T. Foster's ashes were scattered on the canyon lake; letters from Bessie Foster as well. Bessie Foster letter (feb. 5, 1951), to E.B. Macnaughton: "...I wish to correct an impression that I gave you that my husband requested that his ashes be scattered on the lake at Reed college. William never spoke of his death to me... I knew he loved Reed better than any other place, and I was the one who asked the favor of you."
