George Andrews Hay taught at Reed for 27 years. From 1980-1981, he served as acting president of Reed. This collection contains the papers of George Andrews Hay during his time as acting president.

Gilbert D. Schneider papers
Gilbert Schneider was a linguist and missionary who lived and worked in Cameroon for 16 years. The Gilbert D. Schneider papers contain notes, publications by Schneider, photos, and books and articles concerning Cameroon, linguistics, and other topics relating to Schneider's research. "Focus on Black," a folio volume of Schneider's photos, is housed in rare books, separately from the rest of the papers.
Helen A. Stafford papers
Professor Helen Stafford (1922-2011) was the first female biology professor at Reed, teaching from 1954 to 1987. She was active in the Phytochemical Society of North America and received their Phytochemistry Pioneer Award in 2008. Her book Flavonoid Metabolism (1990) was well-received, and she worked as editor and committee member in her professional field. Her Papers contain her article reprints, pamphlets, newsletters, notes on research projects, and photographic images.

Hugh Goldhammer photo collection
Hugh Goldhammer ‘68 was a math major at Reed College in the late 1960s. Goldhammer was a prolific amateur photographer and took many photos during his time at Reed. The collection is comprised of photographs taken by Goldhammer between the years of 1966-1968.
Jacob Avshalomov papers
Jacob Avshalomov (1919-2013) graduated from Reed College in 1943 and married Doris Felde, also Reed class of '43. He played percussion and cello in the Portland Junior Symphony before earning advanced degrees from the Eastman School of Music. Avshalomov taught music at Columbia University from 1946 to 1954 before returning to Portland to become the Conductor of the Portland Junior Symphony, retiring after 40 years in 1994.
